Our Mission

On Galveston Island, where salt air meets relentless sun and bodies are constantly in motion, recovery isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Whether it’s runners logging miles along the seawall, first responders coming off a long shift, weekend warriors chasing personal bests, or locals simply carrying the weight of daily life, the demand for smarter, intentional bodywork is

growing. That’s where Island Edge Sports Massage comes in. Founded by licensed massage therapist Bryan Sisson, Island Edge Sports Massage is redefining what massage therapy looks like on the coast. It’s not a spa in the traditional sense, yet it’s not just for elite athletes. Instead, it sits at the intersection of performance, recovery, and everyday

wellness—offering results-driven care in a calm, welcoming setting.

More Than Relaxation

“At Island Edge, the goal isn’t merely to help someone relax for an hour,” Sisson explains. “It’s about helping bodies function better—whether that means recovering faster, moving with less pain, or plainly feeling more grounded.”

Having more than 15 years of experience in therapeutic bodywork and certification dating back to 2009, Sisson brings a clinical understanding to each session while keeping the experience approachable and personalized. Every massage begins with listening—what the client does for work, how they train, where they feel restricted, and what they need most that day.

The result is a tailored session that blends sports massage techniques, deep tissue work, and restorative methods to support both active bodies and those simply seeking relief from stress and tension.

Designed for Athletes—and Everyone Else

While the name “sports massage” often conjures images of elite competition, Island Edge intentionally broadens the definition of what an athlete is.

“An athlete is anyone who uses their body,” says Sisson. “That includes runners, lifters, and

surfers—but also teachers, nurses, service workers, and parents.”

Signature offerings like The Benchmark, Trigger Point, and The Cheerleader allow clients to choose an experience that matches their needs, whether that’s focused recovery, targeted muscle work, or full-body relaxation. Add-ons such as RedEdge Light Recovery, CryoEdge, aromatherapy, and hot stones elevate sessions without overwhelming them.

Each service is designed to feel purposeful, never cookie-cutter.

A Coastal Philosophy of Care

Island Edge’s philosophy mirrors its environment: steady, adaptive, and grounded. The studio—located in suite #4 at a downtown Galveston beauty-bar-style space—feels intentional and calm, offering a quiet contrast to the energy outside.

Seasonal offerings, outdoor experiences like the Tidal Luxe ritual, and beach-inspired naming all reflect the idea that wellness should move with the rhythms of nature, not against them.

Memberships That Feel Like Team Loyalty

One of Island Edge’s most unique features is its “Season Tickets” membership program, built

around sports-style loyalty rather than traditional spa contracts. Members receive deep discounts, athlete upgrades, and priority access—rewarding consistency and commitment to self-care.

“It’s about treating recovery like training,” Sisson says. “You don’t just show up once and expect results.”

Community at the Core

Beyond the treatment room, Island Edge Sports Massage is deeply rooted in community. From partnerships with local businesses to philanthropic efforts like supporting community workers, the brand consistently emphasizes giving back to those who give so much of

themselves.

That community-first mindset has helped Island Edge quickly become more than just a massage studio—it’s a trusted recovery partner.

The Edge You Can Feel

At its core, Island Edge Sports Massage isn’t about trends or luxury for luxury’s sake. It’s about

helping people feel stronger, move better, and show up more fully—on the beach, at work, on the

track, or in everyday life.

In a place defined by motion and resilience, Island Edge offers exactly what its name promises:

the edge where recovery meets performance, and where bodies are treated with the respect they

deserve.
